Delhi Eats

A few of my favorite haunts that I am willing to share... some I am keeping secret ;)

Colonel Kababz in Defence Colony
If I feel like good Indian food at a reasonable price then this is where I go. I am quite partial to the Murg Mumtaz. It is an upstairs restaurant located at the Citibank end of the market but on the other side of the park. Sorry if that's not clear.

Indian Accent at The Manor in New Friends Colony
Now this is where you go when you want to eat somewhere special....birthdays, anniversarys, romantic dinners and the like. The food here is amazing! Don't bother choosing something off the menu, just order the chefs tasting menu. You won't be disappointed.

High Tea at the Imperial Hotel
Served from 3pm onwards. A fantastic array of sandwiches, scones and french deserts... The Mille-feuille is amazing! And the best part is they just keep on bringing you more.

Olive Bar & Kitchen
Located in the vicinity of the Qutub Minar, this is where you go when you need to escape Indian food and escape 'indianised' foreign food. Great service, ambiance and food... what more do you need.

The Big Chill
Located around the place... Khan Market, Kailash Colony, Saket and probably more locations. Essentially Italian food... not bad really, though pretty ordinary compared to 'Olive' The thing that keep me coming back is the Choc-mint Oreo Shake (just chocolate is available if you are not obsessed with mint like me). My only dislike about this place (actually most places in Delhi) is that when you get the bill you are stung with government tax and 10% service charge.

Tibet Kitchen in Amar Colony (aka Lajpat Nagar 4)
Seeing as I no longer live near the Tibetan Colony I had to find somewhere a bit more local to get my fix of Chicken Thupka.
I have dinner at the Tibet Kitchen usually twice a week while my daughter is at dance class and every time I order the Thupka. Now if I lived in Australia this would not be happening due to budgetary issues but $1.20 for a meal... I could eat here every night. There is much more on the menu than Thupka and I have branched out and tried their other dishes... all good. Unfortunately, unlike the Tibetan Colony they do not offer any buff dishes (buffalo) ...oh well.

Mughal Restaurant - Jangpura Extension
I know Jangpura Extension market is pretty ordinary... it's no Defense Colony or GK M-block but this little place serves the best Barbeque and Tandoori. Calling it a restaurant is a bit of a stretch as it is basically just a kitchen with a desk out front to place your orders.
If you are partial to chicken tikka rolls, like I am, they don't get any better than this. Generous helping of soft flavorsome chicken, just the right amount of onions and the softest Romali Roti (63Rs).
Located just around the corner behind Eros Cinema. Closed on Tuesdays.

I have a bunch more places to add and will do so in the coming weeks.
I have to admit, along with my favorite places to eat I have a list of restaurants that I boycott swirling in my head but is this the place to spill it...?
